Reindex Files

The Re-index Files option re-creates indexes for your data files. These data files are used by the system to determine the sort order in which records are processed; re-indexing them increases the speed at which the data is located.

Re-indexing of files should be done on a periodic basis to ensure that your system is performing at its peak efficiency. Sometimes files must be re-indexed during a support call or for other maintenance issues.

The re-indexing of files may also be included in the Close End of Day process.

Note: Confirm that there are no users logged into Net•Yield. Only the user running the re-index option can be logged into Net•Yield.

1. When you first enter the Re-index Files option, the message line displays "Do you want to re-index the files? No/ Yes".

Note: If while reindexing you receive message Trying to Open RRR(database name) it is likely that you have open databases on the server . See Closing Open Files on Server.

A message line indicating the progress of the re-indexing of the files will appear: “Re-indexing files, XX % completed, please wait.”

You will return to the System Maintenance menu when re-indexing has finished.
